More Trouble For Beyond Good & Evil 2 As Studio Head Reportedly Leaves Ubisoft

Beyond Good & Evil 2 has had a tumultuous development period, to say the least, and it continues to be effected even now with the reported departure of Ubisoft Montpellier’s managing director and studio head.

What’s more is that the departure comes as the studio is under investigation by the French government labour authorities, due to a large number of employees going on sick leave and experiencing burnout.

Guillaume Carmona is the managing director in question, whose departure was revealed to Montpellier’s staff last week, with no reason given on the grounds of confidentiality.

For Ubisoft’s part, its not said anything past a statement given to Kotaku, who first reported the story.

“The health and wellness of our teams is an ongoing priority. Given the length of the development cycle with Beyond Good & Evil 2, the Montpellier development team is undergoing well-being assessments through a third-party for preventative measures and to evaluate where additional support may be needed.”

Despite Ubisoft’s continued claims that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is not dead and still in the works, the most recent reports still put the game in very early stages of development, even though Ubisoft Montpellier has been working on Beyond Good & Evil 2 for over a decade.

It’s hard to say if anyone would be surprised should Ubisoft decide to sunset the project permanently.
