PS5 Shipments Reach 25 Million Worldwide

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced during its latest earnings call that PS5 shipments have now reached 25 million worldwide.

PS5 sales now stand at 5.7 million for the first half of FY2022, although Sony still believes it will be able to hit its 18 million target for the end of the current fiscal year.

The hardware manufacturer said that PS5 sales were progressing well and that it was able to manufacturer 6.5 million consoles during Q2.

Looking ahead, Sony aims to ship 23 million PS5s during the next financial year beginning April 2023. This would put it ahead of PS4 at the same stage in its lifecycle.

The PS5 was released in November 2020 in the US, UK, Europe and other major territories, although the system has been plagued by stock shortages brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic due to lack of vital manufacturing components.
