PS Plus Upgrade Fee Will Be Higher If You Bought Your Current Subscription On Sale

The new PS Plus service has rolled out in Asian territories today, and a number of gamers in Hong Kong have reported some rather anti-consumer measures by Sony: If you’ve purchased your current PS Plus subscription at a discount, you will be charged higher for your upgrade fee.

However, it’s also worth mentioning that if you stacked for several years for our PS Plus subscription, you have to pay the upgrade fee for the entire rest of your membership, regardless of how many years remain.

Naturally, this has got a lot of folk upset on forums such as ResetEra, as it’s put off some people from upgrading their membership come the new PS Plus rollout.

The new PS Plus is released in the US and Europe next month, and offers three tiers depending on your preferred membership. The highest tier, Premium, includes the usual PS4 & PS5 combination, but also throws in retro games spanning PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP games.
