Sony Claims ‘Technical Error’ Was To Blame On PS Plus Discount Subscribers Being Charged More To Upgrade

Sony Interactive Entertainment has addressed complaints regarding users who subscribed to PS Plus at a discount having to pay more to upgrade their service, blaming the price hike on a ‘technical error.’

The newly revamped PS Plus launched in Asian territories this week, and it quickly emerged that those who had paid for their current membership at a discount had to pay more to upgrade. Naturally, folk weren’t happy about this at all, although Sony finally addressed the issue.

Due to a technical error, players in Asia who have previously purchased a PlayStation Plus membership at a discount have been incorrectly charged for their upgrade pricing. This error has been fixed and impacted players will receive a credit. We thank you for your patience.
